Welcome to grade 6 Classroom!

Hello and welcome!

My name is Mrs. Perera, and I am excited to be teaching Grade 6 Humanities, including Spanish Language Arts, English Language Arts, and Social Studies, this year.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, specializing in Spanish Language Arts and Literature, and I bring 20 years of teaching experience to the classroom. Throughout my career, I have developed a variety of teaching strategies to support students with different strengths, needs, and learning styles.

I would describe myself as fun, responsible, caring, and enthusiastic about learning. I believe students learn best when they feel safe, respected, supported, and encouraged. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel a sense of belonging, are comfortable sharing their ideas, and are motivated to challenge themselves.

In Humanities, students will have opportunities to read, write, communicate, think critically, explore different perspectives, and make meaningful connections to the world around them. I encourage students to be curious, take risks, learn from mistakes, and believe in their ability to succeed.

Outside of teaching, I love nature, music, and reading, and I enjoy bringing these interests into the classroom whenever possible.
