¡Bienvenidas familias de Robert Warren!

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year! We are excited to welcome our students and families back to Robert Warren and are looking forward to another great year of learning, connection, and community.

Our staff have been busy this week preparing classrooms, planning for the year ahead, and getting everything ready to welcome students on Monday. We can’t wait to have our hallways filled again!

First Day of Classes / Primer día de clases

A reminder that Monday, August 31 is a staggered entry day / día de entrada escalonada:

  • Grade 6: 8:45–11:15 a.m. (Grado 6: 8:45–11:15 a.m.)
  • Grades 7, 8 & 9: 12:56–3:26 p.m. (Grados 7, 8 y 9: 12:56–3:26 p.m.)

On Tuesday, September 1, all students will attend for the full day and we will follow a regular B Day schedule.

Student timetables will be available in PowerSchool on Monday, and students will also receive a printed copy.

Additional Staffing for 2026–27 / Personal adicional para 2026–27

This fall, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes.

We are very pleased to welcome additional staff to Robert Warren this year! This additional staffing has allowed us to reduce our Grade 9 homerooms from two classes of approximately 35 students to three classes of 23–24 students, while maintaining homeroom class sizes of 25 students or fewer in Grades 6, 7 and 8.

This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from:

  • Increased teacher attention
  • Improved classroom learning environments
  • Greater support for diverse learning needs

We are very pleased to welcome our new staff members to the Robert Warren community and are excited about the positive impact these additional supports will have for our students and classrooms this year.

Class Placements / Asignación de clases

In the spring, families were invited to share input regarding class placements. We carefully considered this feedback, along with many other factors, to create balanced homerooms and option classes that best support student learning.

With our homerooms now balanced and option courses very full, opportunities for movement between classes will be limited. Class or option changes will only be considered in truly exceptional circumstances and where space allows.

We appreciate your partnership in helping students settle positively into their new classes and encourage them to give themselves time to get to know their teachers and classmates. Students are expected to attend their assigned option courses beginning next week.

Looking Ahead / Mirando hacia adelante

The beginning of a new school year always brings excitement and a little nervousness, particularly for students joining us for the first time. We encourage families to help students begin the year with an open mind, connect with their teachers and classmates, and give themselves some time to settle into new routines.

Our weekly messages will continue to be the best place to find important dates, reminders, celebrations and updates about what is happening at Robert Warren.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday and to a fantastic 2026–27 school year!
