It has been an exciting and active week at Robert Warren! Basketball practices are now underway, and our soccer teams are busy with practices and games. We are also looking ahead to our winter drama performance. Auditions took place last week, and we are excited to have our cast selected and ready to begin!
This week, we also launched our Principal Advisory and Wellbeing Committee, with a wonderful group of students representing every homeroom in our school. We look forward to hearing their ideas and perspectives throughout the year; their voice, input, and participation will help make a difference in our school community!
As we prepare for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, students will be participating in Orange Shirt Day learning on September 29, including a whole-school visit to Fish Creek Park for land-based learning opportunities. These experiences will support students in deepening their understanding of truth, reconciliation, Indigenous perspectives, and our shared responsibility to learn from the land and the stories of those who have cared for it. A reminder that there will be no classes for students on September 30 in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Finally, we look forward to welcoming families to our first School Council meeting of the year, taking place in person at Robert Warren on Tuesday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!

Robert Warren School Council
All parents and guardians are invited to join us for our first School Council meeting on Tuesday, September 29, held in person at Robert Warren School.
· School Council: 7:00 p.m.
· RW School Society & MPARW: 7:45 p.m.
· Meetings will include the work of School Council, the Robert Warren School Society and MPARW, with several roles to be filled this year.
Future Meetings (via Microsoft Teams): October 20, November 24, January 19, February 23, April 13 and May 18. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m., with Society business beginning at 7:45 p.m.
We look forward to connecting with our families and working collaboratively to support Robert Warren students throughout 2026–2027!
🎰 Robert Warren Casino – Volunteers Needed!
Our Robert Warren Casino is December 1 & 2, and we need parent volunteers to help make this important fundraiser a success! Casino funds directly support opportunities and resources for our students, and one volunteer shift generates an average of approximately $2,400 for our school. Volunteers are trained on site, no experience or clearance is required, and a meal is provided during each shift.

Drama
🎭 Coming This December: U of Elf!
Our Grade 8/9 Drama students have officially been cast and are getting ready to begin rehearsals for this year’s school production, U of Elf! This fun and festive comedy follows the elves of U of Elf as they navigate holiday chaos, mischievous reindeer, unexpected challenges, and discover that sometimes the best way to solve a problem is by listening to one another and working together. Students will be involved both onstage and behind the scenes as actors, stage managers, designers, technicians, and production crew. Performances will take place in December, with students sharing the show with both our school and elementary school communities!
🎨 Parent Volunteers Needed!
We would love to involve members of our school community in helping bring U of Elf to life! We are looking for parent/guardian volunteers who may be interested in supporting our students with set design and construction, props, costumes, decorating, or other backstage production needs. Whether you have theatre experience, enjoy building or crafting, can sew, or simply enjoy being creative and would like to lend a hand, we would be grateful for your support. All volunteers working with students will require the appropriate volunteer clearance. If you are interested in helping with the production, please reach out to Ms. Keen, the Drama teacher at clkeen@cbe.ab.ca for more information.

o Monday 3:30-5:00pm & Wednesday 7:30-8:30am- Practice

· Students should arrive to practice at least 10 min early, with time to change and be on the court for the start.
· On Thursday, October 1, there will be an optional Junior Boys Basketball practice / scrimmage against the girls’ team. We need at least 5 boys. Please check in with Mr. Guenther if you are interested before Thursday.

Band & Choir/ Banda y Coro
The band is running the big box of cards fundraiser till October 15th. Anyone interested in purchasing some can either order from a student or place an order through Ms Gilliland. Please see the link below to check out the 4 options.
· Jazz band is now up and running. Rehearsals are every Wednesday morning at 7:30 am.
