Spanish Bilingual Schools Dazzle Jubilee Stage with Vibrant Cultural Showcase

The stage of the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium came alive with colour, rhythm, and passion as more than 500 students from 10 Calgary Spanish Bilingual schools came together to celebrate 25 years of Spanish Bilingual Programming at the CBE during this year’s ¡Qué Pasa! event.

Spanning elementary to high school, talented students brought the spirit of Spanish-speaking cultures to life, delivering a dazzling array of performances that ranged from traditional folkloric dances to upbeat contemporary hits.

“This event makes visible the power and opportunity of language education, through the incredible creativity and commitment of our students and staff,” says Sebastien Fournier, principal of Dalhousie School, and chair of this year’s event.

“¡Qué Pasa! is more than a performance - it’s a celebration of language and culture that unites our Spanish Bilingual programs across the CBE.”

The success of ¡Qué Pasa! was made possible by the tireless efforts of teachers, school administrators, and the dedicated organizing committee. Their months of planning and collaboration culminated in an afternoon that celebrated not just bilingual education, but unity across school communities.

As the final note rang out and the curtain fell, one thing was clear - ¡Qué Pasa! was not just a show, but a celebration of identity, language, and the joy of learning.

Muchísimas gracias a todos por el apoyo y por la dedicación a nuestros estudiantes cada día.

Thank you to everyone for the daily support and dedication towards our students.
